Rolfe Ehrmann - 1949-2011

Rolfe Ehrmann concentrated his practice in family law, criminal law, appeals, and general trial litigation. He was a member of the American, Illinois, and Lee County Bar Associations. Mr. Ehrmann was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, all Illinois state courts, and the federal court in Northern Illinois.

Mr. Ehrmann tried literally thousands of cases in his career. He was an Assistant State’s Attorney, an Illinois Appellate Prosecutor, and a defense attorney.

Thirty of Mr. Ehrmann’s cases were published in law books nationwide as legal precedent in many areas of the law. Mr. Ehrmann was published on ethics in the Illinois Bar Journal, and this article was cited by name by the Illinois Appellate Court in six different cases when it was deciding the rules of ethical conduct. The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin published numerous articles about Mr. Ehrmann’s cases, on such subjects as forfeiture, double jeopardy, municipal elections, and murder. The Illinois State Bar Association conducted a seminar for attorneys covering, in part, Mr. Ehrmann’s case on land valuation. The October 2007 Reader’s Digest published an article about Mr. Ehrmann’s case in the Illinois Supreme Court involving the rights of children, parents, and grandparents.

Mr. Ehrmann was a graduate of DePaul University College of Law and was a law clerk for Presiding Justice Eberspacher of the Fifth District Illinois Appellate Court. He was active in his community, serving as Chairman of the Sheriff’s Merit Commission and as a member of the Lee County Council on Aging. Mr. Ehrmann also served as President of the Lee County Bar Association, President of the Dixon Rotary Club, and Chairman of the Lee County Board of Health, and was active in many other like organizations.
